It's kind of funny. As a Christian, in the environment of a Christian college, one hears about "wanting God to lead their lives" or "if God would just lead me to where He wants me to be, I would be happy". I am speaking from my own personal experience hear as I have said and felt such things on many occasion. The funny part is that we want God to lead, but then we don't do anything. We just think "Well, I don't feel anything, so I must just need to wait for God to get on the ball and send me some instructions." Or maybe "People say that it isn't a good idea, and they're older and more experienced than I, so this probably isn't really God's leading."
God always leads us, we just need to follow. We can't stand still waiting for some vague "sign", we have to move forward and trust God to that we are headed in the right direction. If we aren't, then God will let us know. If we're just standing at base camp waiting for further instructions we'll never scale the mountain, because we'll have never tried. God isn't going to just beam us to the top of the mountain. To be lead, we have to follow. We have to move. Don't get me wrong, time spent determing which direction to set out in is time well spent. But we have to set out in a direction, we cannot just wait for a step-by-step manual to the rest of our lives.
Life is not scripted, life is improv. Yet, there is still a story in it, and that story has always been there. It is our journey to discover it through our God-given gifts, and through our choices. We cannot change our story, we can only tell it differently, for the better or for the worse.

This post may be full of contradictions, please point them out if you have the patience to examine it more critically. Merry Christmas.
